Mansfield only competed in the first half of the State Relay meet due to the
prom but still managed to place 7th overall as a team . All the relay
teams that competed had strong top 10 performances. Mansfield did
establish two school records.
The first one came in the long jump
by the trio of Meghan Ferreira, Colleen
Davis, and Nina Monestime as they placed 3rd with the school record jump of
45'7.75". The next school record came in the triple jumpe where the team of
Meghan Ferreira, Colleen Davis, and Kelly McCabe jumped a distance of 104'.75" for
1st place. Kelly McCabe also teamed up with Jess Eason and Victoria Newell

Mansfield beat North Attleboro 70-66 to win the Hockomock League title with an undefeated record of 8-0. This meet may go down as the best Hockomock Duel meet of all-time. When you have athletes on both teams throwing down performances of 12.8(100M), 34'5" (TJ), 26.4(200M), and 16'6 (LJ) third place finishes. Those results show you how competitive this meet was.
Meghan Ferreira and Colleen Davis continued their dominance of the hurdles
and triple jump by winning their hurdles and then going 1,2 in the triple jump.
The mile was a race to watch. Sophomore Cassie Olson was set on not losing
on her birthday and threw down an incredible
kick at about 500 meters to just edge out Amanda Parker from NA for the win with
a time of 5:33.8. The 800 provided another exciting race as Sophomore Ana
Lutkevitch ran down four athletes in the final 100 meters for her first career
win in the 800 with a PR of 2:30.1. Junior Kelly McCabe led a very
important sweep in the shot put with a 38' throw. Jess Eason (36'10"),
Victoria Newell (31'1") placed 2nd and 3rd in that event. The Hornets also
swept the two mile with Katelyn Schepis leading the charge with a winning time
of 12:35.1, Jess Morse 12:48.6, and Cassie Olson 12:53.2. Some surprise
points came in the discus event as Jess Eason won the event with a throw of 96'.
That is a 12 foot PR for Jess. The meet came down to the 4x400 where Erica
Unger, Michelle Jenssen, Katie Jenkins, and Colleen Davis cruised to a 4:12.8
for the win.
I wish I could recognize everyone that had an amazing performance today but this may turn into a book instead of a summary. Mansfield had PR's at the JV and Varsity level. Today was definitely a whole team effort and we couldn't of pulled this win off without all of your hard work! Mansfield focus now turns to the championship season.
